The just published edition of the New Statesman carries a cover article by MPs Jon Trickett and Jon Cruddas which argues that the Labour Party needs to become more independent of the Parliamentary leadership and that a good place to start is the appointment of an automous general secretary, so who do Labour bloggers think that new general secretary should be?

The Independent on Sunday has printed an article today 60 “young, gifted and black” people in different areas including politics, business, media, performance arts, fashion, culture and sport.  Amongst their number ten political personalities were chosen by founder and director of Operation Black Vote, Simon Woolley, including Labour MPs Dawn Butler and David Lammy.  It rather puts paid to the ridiculous claims made by Dr James Watson!  To read the piece, click here "Young, gifted and black: politics choices".
